A Single Picture Story
A Single Picture Story is an interactive publication presented in a transparent envelope, offering a glimpse of what lies inside before the experience begins.
The concept is simple, yet open-ended: inside are ten transparent sheets of text and a single image—reproduced in fourteen different variations through color grading, cropping, and editing. The reader is invited to layer these elements, combining image and text in endless ways.
By placing one or more text sheets over a single image—or layering multiple images with shifting text—the story unfolds differently each time. The narrative emerges not from a fixed sequence, but through the reader’s choices and imagination. It’s a collaboration between the materials and the person holding them.
This project was a refreshing exploration of what a publication can be. Rather than guiding the reader through a linear path, it invites them to become an active participant in building a narrative—challenging the passive nature of traditional print.
